Paul wrote to the Ephesians:
(Ephesians
3:20–21 NKJV) —20 Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that
we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, 21 to Him be
glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.
:20 all that we ask or think
We have things that we ask God about, or things we think about.
It might be a difficult situation that we are facing.
It might be with a certain temptation that we are struggling with.
It might be an illness.
It might be a relationship that isn’t going the way it should.
It might be a question about the future.
:20 able to do exceedingly abundantly
above
God is able to do things above and beyond what we can think concerning
these things.
We might think that the situation is hopeless, that there’s no answer, but
it might not be.
The disciples thought it was hopeless when Jesus was arrested, tried,
beaten, crucified, and laid in a tomb.
But it wasn’t.
The disciples may have prayed, “God help us cope with this
tragedy”.
Yet God did more than help them get through the grief of
losing Jesus. God raised Jesus from the
dead.
:21 to Him be glory in the church
God isn’t necessarily obligated to make things work out the way we want
them to.
He is sovereign and He will do what He wants to.
He is good and what He will do will ultimately be the right thing.
The ultimate goal in God’s mind is not our “comfort”, but
His glory.
God intends that the world see who He is.
It’s important for us that we put the spotlight where it
needs to be – on God, not us.
He also loves us, so we can trust that what He does on our behalf is done
for the right reasons.
How do I know God loves me when I’m going through a
difficult time?
(Ro
5:8 NKJV) But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were
still sinners, Christ died for us.
(1
Jn 3:16 NKJV) By this we
know love, because He laid down His life for us…
When I look at what Jesus did for me, I KNOW He loves me.
He is able to do above what we could ask or think…
:20 according to the power that works in
us
God will work through us, according to the power that works in us.
That power is the power of the resurrection, the power of the Holy Spirit.
(Ro
8:11 NKJV) But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in
you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal
bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.
There is hope my friends.
(Ephesians
3:20–21 NKJV) —20 Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that
we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, 21 to Him be
glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.
