Motive of the Heart

This weeks Pastor to Person was written by Pastor Daniel Grant.

Zechariah, the minor prophet, had a strong rebuke for the people of his day. The people wondered if they should fast and mourn as was their custom in the fifth and seventh months.  God challenged them to examine WHY they did what they were doing? God looks to the heart, to the motives, to the things that men don’t see. God evaluates those three things.

Was it wrong for them to mourn and fast – NO!! But their heart was not in it! It would be better for them to get their heart right with God and then take the right action!! Zec 7:12 “Yes, they made their hearts like flint, refusing to hear the law and the words which the Lord of hosts had sent by His Spirit through the former prophets. Thus great wrath came from the Lord of hosts.”

Beloved don’t resist the Lord! Don’t let your heart become hard by bitterness, by unforgiveness or even by ritually holding on to the way things have always been!! Ask God to soften your heart, ask God to FILL your heart with love, compassion and forgiveness. And know that I’m standing right there with you?
