What is a “podcast”? Every week the messages at Calvary Chapel of Fullerton are recorded, digitized, and uploaded to our internet “Library“. If you want, you can browse through the Library at any time and from your computer you can listen to the various studies. You might notice that you can even look at Rich’s notes that he used when he gave the message. The Library has archives that date back to … well pretty far back. What a podcast does is take those audio messages, and weekly delivers them to a device of yours like an iPod or a smart phone … automatically.
Whether you’re a pro at podcasts, or kind of new to this technology – we’ve got what it takes to keep you connected and receiving your weekly “feed”.
If you want, you can “subscribe” to just the Sunday morning message, or just the Thursday night message, or even to both.
The first choice you need to make is: iPod or RSS? Check out the two sections below …
If you are using an Apple device, then choose which podcast stream you want to subscribe to below.
If you are using a PC to run iTunes, you may need to be running the latest version of Internet Explorer for these links to work.
If your computer asks if it’s okay to open “iTunes”, be sure to say “yes”.
Once you’ve successfully subscribed, you will get the current studies already in the cue, and then each week you’ll receive the latest study, usually around Wednesday.
The RSS feed can be a little more complicated, but it does work. An RSS feed requires that you have piece of software called an “aggregator” to receive the RSS feeds.
Microsoft Outlook, Google Reader, or Internet Explorer all work as aggregators on your computer. With Internet Explorer, all you need to do is to click on the links below to subscribe to the feed on your computer.
For devices like a smart phone, you need to go to your phone’s “app store” and find an aggregator (they should be free). Try searching for “RSS”. A common application is Viigo, which we’ve seen work on Blackberry’s, Androids, and Windows Phones. Once you have your aggregator installed and running, you are going to need to subscribe to the appropriate feed. Follow your aggregator’s instructions for adding a feed, and then you will need to enter an “address” of the feed. You will get the address by right-clicking on the choice below and choosing “copy shortcut” or “copy link address” (depending on your browser) and pasting that address into the aggregator. The address will look something like “http://calvaryfullerton.org/podcast/feed.xml“. If you accidentally click on the address instead of right clicking, you’ll get a whole screen full of jibberish, and that’s no good. Give it a try!
That’s it! Once you’ve successfully subscribed, you will get the current studies already in the cue, and then each week you’ll receive the latest study, usually around Wednesday.
