Thanksgiving is a time that can sure stir up a lot of feelings inside of us. For some of us, we look forward to spending time with family and friends, lots of good food, and maybe even a football game or two. For some, it’s one of the more painful holidays. It may be the pain of the loss of a loved one who is no longer with us, that empty seat at the table. For others, it’s just knowing that while other people are eating turkey with their loved ones, we are eating all alone. Yet whether it’s a holiday we look forward to or a holiday we dread, I think there’s still something powerful about the annual “feast”. You might tell me that “feasts” are just a cultural thing. I wonder if our strong feelings about “feasts” are something that God has placed in each of our hearts. God has put in our hearts is a longing to be included in the “feast”.
And the angel said to me, “Write this: Blessed are those who are invited to the wedding feast of the Lamb.” And he added, “These are true words that come from God.” (Revelation 19:9)
This time of the year is a month full of “feasts”. Whether the “feasts” are a positive thing or a negative thing for you, keep in mind, there is one feast you’re not going to want to miss. It is a feast in which you have a standing invitation. And I have to tell you, I imagine it will be one of the finest spreads you’ve ever pulled your chair up to. It’s a blessed thing to have this invitation. I hear the host is fantastic. This will be one feast you will truly enjoy.
