“Prescription for Peace…Gracious Humility”

This week’s Pastor to Person was written by Pastor Daniel Grant.

If you are like me and are aching for a little peace, I would strongly recommend that you read the fifth chapter of 1 Peter. My desire is that God would establish, strengthen and settle me, but that comes only when I have submitted to Him and taken on the humility that God desires! 1 Peter 5-7 “God resists the proud, But gives grace to the humble.” Therefore, humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, 7 casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.

We can cast our cares upon Him, and we can know that He truly does care for us! He holds us in the palm of His hand, but He desires that we stay humble. Peter in this chapter acknowledges that the people of God had suffered, but his exhortation to them was to receive God’s heavenly grace and not elevate themselves in PRIDE. He tells them that if they exalt themselves that God himself will oppose them! It has been a rough year (that feels like a decade), and we are not through it yet! So, stay humble, hold fast to the Scriptures and to the leading of the Holy Spirit, and know that the grace of our LORD will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus:-)
