Making Miracles

This weeks Pastor to Person was written by Pastor Rich Cathers…

His mother said to the servants, “Whatever He says to you, do it.” (John 2:5)

It is one of the most interesting of Jesus’ miracles. He and His disciples are at a wedding when Jesus’ mother asks Him to do something about the wine (which has run out). There appears to be just the smallest of arguments between Jesus and His mother, and then she turns and tells the servants to do whatever Jesus says.
You probably know what happened. Jesus asked the servants to fill six large waterpots with water. Then Jesus turned the water into wine… the finest wine.
I find that this little gem in John 2:5 is very special. Servants needed to obey Jesus. Yes, I’m sure Jesus could have snapped His fingers and everyone’s glasses would be full of unending wine. But He did it another way. Jesus used the obedience of the servants.
We love a good miracle story, don’t we? Yet sometimes very special things happen when those servants in the background do something quiet and unobtrusive. They obey what Jesus says.
Are you that servant today? Are you willing to do whatever Jesus might ask? What if you don’t get any credit for what results? What if people don’t know your name?
Obey Jesus and see what He will do.
