“Where do you get your wisdom from?”

This week’s Pastor to Person was written by Pastor Daniel Grant.

Job was in dire straits. He had literally lost EVERYTHING. His family – gone. His financial security – vanished. It was so bad that his wife’s advice to him was literally to ‘curse God and die…’(2:9) Job’s friends show up, and for seven days they just sit with him, because they can see that his pain is beyond measure…Then they try to blame him for his circumstances … Job responds as any rational person does: 12:2 “No doubt you are the people, and wisdom will die with you!” So that got me to thinking, where is YOUR well of wisdom? Is it a close friend or spouse? A doctor? Is it a trusted news source? Politician? Who are you listening to in this time of waiting??

Job shifts gears as he rebukes his friends in verse 13, he says “With Him are wisdom and strength, He has counsel and understanding.” Who is the ‘Him’ that Job leaned on in his dire circumstance? The LORD! Job leaned on the Lord, even when his circumstances made no earthly sense. He leaned into Yahweh, searched out the wisdom of God and even worshiped God in the ashes of his life. Imitate Job’s example as Job imitated Christ. Hold on, your story is not over, it been a wild ride this year, BUT DO NOT LET GO. God be with you, and with us. Hugs, Daniel.
